The final week of the semester is here.  What a fun time we have had in 2011!  We will be finishing up our Celebration of Jesus' birth and having a Christmas "birthday" Party this week!    Even though we are doing a lot of celebrating, we will also be doing some learning... We will be reading a Bible story about the Angels telling the shepherds about the Savior that was born.  Our shape of the week is a SQUARE.  We will be learning to trace them and finding squares around the room.  Your child has worked hard on making a great gift for you and has been looks forward to giving it to you.  We will be reading the book, Who Will Help Santa This Year? during story time and will be making jingle bell bracelets and decorating goody bags to take home.  Of course there will be songs and movement, as we dance to Jingle Bells, Rudolph, We Three Kings and a lot more carols.  As a special treat, we will be watching the VeggieTales Christmas movie while eating popcorn and drinking juice in our comfy pajamas!

I have been so blessed to have your children in this class and look forward to teaching and learning with them in 2012!  Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!!  I would love to see those Christmas cards if you send them out.  See you the week of January 3rd!

We have a lot of exciting things planned for this week.  Our Bible story will be focusing on the birth of Baby Jesus.  We will discuss how Jesus will save us and why his birth was so important.  We will also be working on a new shape: a Triangle.  Using the triangle, we will be making a neat Christmas Tree with popsicle sticks.  For our morning activity, we will be making a coffee filter angel that will be displayed in our room.  There will, of course, be a lot of singing and dancing during the day, as we will continue to sing our Christmas carols and our shape song.  The book that will be read during story time is "Who Was Born This Special Day?"  You child will get to search for who was born on Christmas.  Is it the donkey, or maybe the shepherd?

Please take some time and look at the art projects from last week that your child made.  He/she put a lot of effort into making it for you.  We will be making many more things before the semester is finished and I know how proud you child is in his/her work.

Also, there will be a letter coming home that talks about the Christmas party next week.  We have asked each of you to bring an item to make this party a success.  If you are unable to provide your item, please let Mrs. Rhianna or I know.  We are excited to wrap up our semester next week with a celebration of Jesus' birthday.

Please make sure to continue to bundle up your child, as we will be heading outside to play if the temperature is above freezing.

Happy Holidays!
